02 — About

A specialist practice, built for work that doesn’t fit standard templates.

Founded 2010

Park Place Projects is a Bronx-based production management firm working in theater, dance, performance, opera, and the visual arts.

The company was founded in 2010, but the practice behind it is older. Park Place is the formalization of a working network founder Will Knapp had been building since the early 1980s — first across the theaters of New York, then outward to television, film, concert, opera, ballet, and the gallery and museum world, and eventually to more than forty countries.

Our focus is on work that is custom by nature: new productions, international tours, gallery and museum-scale performance, and projects whose technical demands don’t fit standard templates. We are small by design. Most projects are run hands-on by Will with a project-specific team built from a network of trusted collaborators.

If your production needs a senior production manager who has actually done it before — and done it in airports, customs lines, and load-ins on five continents — we’d like to hear about it.

What we do
i.

Production Planning

The pre-production phase. Budgeting, scheduling, hiring, vendor selection, contract negotiation, risk and insurance, and ATA Carnets and visas for international work. The structural work that puts a production on a foundation strong enough to hold through the run.

ii.

Creation

Build, rehearsal, and tech. Scenic fabrication oversight, shop and stage management in tandem, rehearsal-hall coordination, and the integration of the lighting, sound, and video packages with the designers and the company.

iii.

Presentation

Load-in through final performance — and, on the road, every stop after that. Routing and freight, local crew, immigration, customs, and the daily operations that keep the production on its feet for as long as it runs. Forty countries to date across five continents.
